There was
a place named 'Veerdhara' in which the great king named 'Virbhadra' lived. The
king was returning to the king's house, along
with his soldiers from
the jungle way. On the way there was a 'Pavitra' river in which a bird was
grappling. The king came to see the mercy and ordered the soldier to save the
bird from dying.
The soldiers went into the river and saved the bird. The king ordered the soldier to
take the bird with you. Bird was taken to the King court. The bird was injured. The condition of the bird was getting worse. The King again asked the soldier to give water the bird. Perhaps the life of the bird is saved by drinking water.
The soldier started feeding the bird, but the bird did not drink a drop of
water. This information was given to the king. Then the King himself came and said that I give water to the bird. The king also tried to give water
to the bird but bird did not drink water even a drop. Seeing this, the king got angry. And then open the bird's beak and
forcefully put water in the mouth. However, the bird did not drink water.
The
condition of the bird became worse. The king was worried why he could not drink
this water. At the same time a Saint came to the king and said, O king! He is a
‘Chaatak bird’. It will not take any water except Swati Nakshatra water. It
will give up its life but others will not drink water.

The Chaatak Bird adheres to its resolution. Even when he is injured and falls into the water, a drops do not drink
water, but he stops his own life by closing his mouth. He only drinks the water of Swati Nakshatra. The king was very surprised to hear this. The king told the saint that we never saw such a resolute Chaatak bird. On this matter the saint said to the king, O king! Human beings should be
determined on their goals, similar to this ‘Chaatak bird’. We get this knowledge from a ‘Chaatak’ bird.
